FLATCHIE, n. Also flatsi (Jak.). A shake-down bed, esp. one of straw on a threshingfloor (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928); Sh. 1951).Sh. 1951 New Shetlander No. 29. 34:
After supper these young women proceeded to the barn where beds had been made down — called “Da flatchie.”
