CARMYLIE CLOVER, CARMYLLIE CLOVER, n.comb.  Self-heal (Prunella Vulgaris). See quotes. The term is now nearly obs.Ags. 1883 Sc. Naturalist 70:
(Prunella vulgaris), called also Self-heal and Heal-all, from its supposed medicinal virtues; abundant at Carmylie, near Arbroath, and wherever the land is poor. This a purely local name, and conveys the popular opinion of the poverty of the Carmylie land.Ags. 1968 William Allen Illsley ed. 'Carmyllie clover' is a local name for the plant Self-heal (prunella vulgaris).
