AFFECT, v. Sc. law: To burden (property) with a fixed charge or payment, or other condition or restriction.Ags. 1728 Private Document (Fif.1):
Power to burden and affect the saids Lands with the sum of two hundred pounds sterline.
Lnk. 1712 Minutes J.P.s (S.H.S.) 136: 
The saids Justices of the Peace . . . ordains his effects to be affected for releef to the said paroch of the said mentinance.
