Quyok, Queyoke, n. Also: qui-, qwy-, quȝ-, que- and -ak, -ack(e, -ek; qu(y)oacke. [Appar. of eastern, north-eastern and north. Sc. origin: Quy n. + -ok dimin. suffix, also in Playok n. and in many mod. Sc. formations, and in Buttok(e, Hillok, etc., OE -oc, -uc. Cf. also Quoyok, Quak, Quyach and Quoyach.Also in the mod. Sc. dial. as queyock, -ag (Caithness), queack, -ock (north-east), quoyack, -ock (Shetl.).] A young cow or heifer. = Quy n.1Also attrib. with stirk.(a) 1497–8 Acta Conc. II 99.
