(Pike-,) Pyke-staf(f, n. Also: pyik- and -stalf. [e.m.E. pike staffe (1580), f. Pik(e n.1 and staff. Cf. Pik-staff n., and ON. píkstafr. In this sense, only Sc. after c 1650.] A staff with a metal point at its lower end. — a1500 Henr. Fab. 180 (Ch.).
