Pas-, Pesment, n.1 Also: passe-, pais-, past-, pese-, pest-, pos- and -mant, -mont, -mond. [F. passement the action of passing (13th c. in Hatz.-Darm.), in this sense (1539), f. passer Pas v.; e.m.E. passement (1589), also passament-lace (1585), pasmain-lace (1548). Cf. also Parsment n. and Pasiment.]
