Desire, Desyr(e, v. Also: desir, -sier(e, -syir, -syer, desseir; desair(e, -sayre, -sayer; disier, -syir, dissire, -yre, dyssire, -yre, dysir, dissayre. [ME. desyre (dessire, dissyre, etc.), desire (c 1230), OF. desirer (L. dēsīderāre).]

1. intr. To wish strongly or earnestly to (be, have, etc.). a1400 Leg. S. xvi. 471.
