WINACH, v. To winnow (Bch. 1808 Jam.). Used in quot. in a nonce sense. appar. meaning to try to raise a wind, of Agamemnon waiting at Aulis for wind to take the Greek fleet to Troy.Abd. 1777 R. Forbes Ulysses 20:
Syne Fuddy raise and filt your sails . . . For Agamemnon winachin, Diana's wench had stown.
