They [turnips] wid hae been e'en waur nor corks, but a mess o' fite wheebers an' growth that nae a beast wid pit moo amo'.

[Appar. a hypercorrect form due to the converse application of the change from wh- to f- in ne.Sc. See P.L.D. § 134.]
