TEMPLE, n.2 A rod, gen., of hazel, laid horizontally over thatch and stapled at both ends to hold down the straw (Ayr. 1758 Ayr Presb. Reg. MS. (10 May)). Comb. temple-band, id.Gsw. 1729 Burgh Rec. Gsw. (1909) 311:
Thack and straw, temple bands and firr ropes to and thacking of the millners house.
