TAPEE, n. Also tappee. Sc. forms of Eng. toupee, a pad of hair, natural or artificial, pinned up so as to heighten the appearance of the hair in front of the head (Sc. 1825 Jam.). See also Toupie. [tə′pi:]Slk. 1875 Border Treasury (2 Jan.) 276:
It was suitten on end in a tappee abune, an' poud firm back ahint the lugs.
