STEETHE, n., v. Also steeth. [stið]

I. n. A stud, nail, metal pin.Bnff. 1725–9 W. Cramond Ch. Grange 87, 90:
600 steeths for the loft 24s. As the back pews in the new loft are in danger of being broke by persons sitting on the backs of them big iron steethes are to be fastened in them.

II. v. In ppl.adj. steethed, studded, fitted with metal studs or ornamental buttons.Abd. p.1768 A. Ross Fortunate Shep. MS. 40:
A steethed belt wi brazen knops.
