I would advise you to fortify the said sconce, not only by a foussie, or graffe, but also by certain stackets, or palisades.

[The word was taken by Scott from Expedition with the worthy Scots Regiment (1637) by R. Monro who adopted it from L.Ger. stacket, id.]
