SPIKKIE, n. A watchman, look-out on a ship.Sh. 1948 New Shetlander No. 10. 15:
The skipper would receive 10/- per ton of salt fish, the mate 5/- per ton, the second mate 2/6, and the “spikkie” or watchman 1/3 per ton.
