WATERSTON. Zool. (1) After Rev. James Waterston (1879–1930), of Paisley, U.F. Minister of Ollaberry, Ork., naturalist in the British Museum, in deriv. Waterstonia, generic name of a variety of chalcid wasp (1917 Mercet in Bolletino Soc. Espanol. Hist. Nat. XVII. 268); waterstoni, specif. name of a genus of flea, Ceratophyllus (1925 Jordan in Novitates Zoologicae XXXII. 105); (2) after A. R. Waterston, son of the above, of the Royal Scottish Museum, in deriv. waterstoni, specif. name of a springtail, Onychiurus (1937 Bagnall in Sc. Naturalist 87).
