SLIMON. After Robert Slimon (†c.1882), of Lesmahagow, surgeon and fossil collector. Derivs. Slimonia, a fossil marine eurypterid of the order Merostomata (1856 D. Page in Proc. Royal Physical Soc. Edb. I. 56); Slimonianum, specif. name of a coral from Lesmahagow (1874 J. Thomson in Geol. Mag. XI. 556), now treated as a genus Slimoniphyllum (1961 Kato & Mitchell in Palaeontology IV. (2) 280).
