SCOULER. After John Scouler (1804–71), of Glasgow, Professor of Geology and Natural History at Glasgow and Dublin. Derivs. Scouleria, in Bot., a genus of moss, order Bryalia, found in North America (1828 W. J. Hooker Botanical Misc. I. 133); scoulerite, in Geol., an impure variety of Thomsonite (1840 R. D. Thomson in Philosoph. Mag. XVII. 408); scouleri in Zool., a species of wagtail from the Himalayas.
