BURNETTIZE, v. Chem. To saturate wood, cloth or the like, in a solution of chloride of zinc, hence called Burnett's fluid, as a disinfectant and preservative. The process was devised and patented by Sir William Burnett (1779–1861), of Montrose, chemist and naval physician. See above.
