MAAN-COG, n.comb. Also mant-cog. The drinking-vessel passed round the company at a wedding from which the bride's health was drunk (Ork. 1973 Orcadian (20 Dec.), maan-, mant-). See Menyie, n., 5.
[The meaning corresponds to menyie-cog but there are phonological difficulties in equating the forms. Maan may have been associated with Maun, adj. (see note s.v.).]
