CLUGGIE-DHU, n. Corrupt form of Clabbydhu.Gsw. 1851 Glasgow Past & Present (1884) II. 29:
I have found pearls in the Clyde at Dalmarnock. These were got from large brown mussels embedded in the river. The boys used to call these mussels cluggie-dhu's.
