AWEN, n. ? The word is corrupt and a modern version of the song reads “Da hens is among da kye i' da byre” (Sh. 1973 Da Sangs at a'll sing ta dee (Robertson) 22).Sh. 1822 S. Hibbert Description 564:
The Awens are amang the cows in the byre.
