AUCHTEENAUGHTEEN, adj.2 in phr. auchteen part lands, prob. = eighth part lands, a common division of land in O.Sc. See D.O.S.T. Auchtand, num. adj. (3).Mry. 1793 Stat. Acc.1 V. 18:
Originally they [the auchteen parts] belonged to 64 distinct proprietors.
Mry. 1825 J. Mitchell Scotsman's Library 495:
An extensive tract . . . distinguished by the name of Aughteen part lands in the vicinity of the town of Elgin, and holden of the community, . . . was divided into entire allotments about the year 1781.
Mry. 1914 H. B. Mackintosh Elgin Past and Present 171:
The Earls of Moray. . . [had] for their salaries the customs of the town, the assize of ale, the auchteen part lands, and the moss wards.
