SHEENWHIRR, n. Appar. = a contraption, a mechanical coctrivance of one sort or another. [ʃin′hwɪr]Ags. 1901 W. J. Milne Reminiscences 56:
They at least “wad ne'er risk their lives on nae sic dangerous sheenwhirrs as a railway tram.”

[Appar. a nonce jocular formation based on sheen ( < machine) and whirr, to revolve noisily.]
