ROOSTER, n. Also rooshter (ne.Sc. 1968). Glossed for 1921 quot. as “also trooshter, dirt, useless rubbish”, and appar. adapted from the saying in the c.1800 quot. where it appears to be a nonce variant of Roost, n.2, rust, altered after trushter.Bnff. c.1800 in T.S.D.C. II. s.v. dabrich:
