RAPPERDANDIE, n. The red bear-berry, Arctostaphylos uva ursi. Also in n.Eng. dial.Bwk. 1853 G. Johnston Botany E. Borders 138:
Arbutus Uva-ursi = Arctostaphylos uva-ursi . . . The berries are known to the common people in the west of the county by the name of Rapperdandies, and are eaten by them.
