RANIGATE, n. A nonsense word in a children's rhyme, prob. influenced by Rinagate, renegade, and the following Canigate.e.Lth. 1911 Rymour Club Misc. 175:
Ree-a-ree, a ranigate. The pipers i' the Canigate, The drow is in the air.
