PRESCRIVE, v. Also prescryve. To lay down as a rule or direction to be followed; of a doctor or the like: to advise or order the use of a medicine or remedy, prescribe.Sc. 1702 Discourse of Suppressing Vice 62:
A wise Physician will not prescrive the same Medicines for every Patient.
