PIRR, n.4 A hot drink made with oatmeal, cream of tartar and sugar, freq. used in the treatment of colds (Sh. 1966).Sh. 1946 F. M. McNeill Recipes from Scot. 89:
Pirr. Mix the oatmeal, sugar, and cream of tartar in a warm jug, and add just enough cold milk to make a smooth paste. Pour in the boiling water, stirring all the time.
