PERLICKET, n. Also -it, -id (Cai.). A trace, scrap, particle, an iota (Abd. 1929, Cai., ne.Sc. 1965). A misunderstood and corrupt form of phr. (deil) be licket, — perlickit!, not a blessed thing!, not a chance! s.v. Deil, n., II. 2. (3); cf. sim. development of Haet.Abd. 1905 W. Watson Auld Lang Syne 185:
He ate ilka perlicket o' 'er an' sookit the verra beens.
