¶PEFFERDILLY, adj. Of corn, etc.: thin and sparse, not thriving.Ayr. 1912 Scotsman (2 Jan.):
I had an aunt, aged 96 when she died, nigh seventy years ago. One day I was with her in the hairst field, and on a bare, rocky knowe-top the corn was thin and short, and she passed the remark that it was very pefferdilly.
