OWERHAUL, v. Also owrehaul (Abd. 1875 W. Alexander My Ain Folk viii.), overhawl (Sc. 1825 Wilson Noctes Amb. (1855) I. 94). Sc. forms and usage, of a screw or bolt: to drive too tightly, so that the thread is damaged and becomes useless (n.Sc., Ags. 1875–1964).
