OUT-STAIR, n. An outer stair on a house, giving separate access to an upper flat, a Forestair. Gen.Sc. [′utsteər]Sc. 1771 Weekly Mag. (4 July) 31:
Same day, a child fell from an out-stair near the Wynd-head.
Slg. 1845 Stat. Acc.3 VIII. 168:
The streets have been very much improved of late by levelling, removal of out-stairs.
