ORRET, n., v. Also ored (Jak.), and back-formation orrow. [′ɔrət]
I. n. A small wedge, esp. one driven into the point of a wooden peg to expand it and prevent it from slipping out (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928), 1914 Angus Gl., Sh. 1964).
II. v. To fix a peg with a wedge.Ork. 1910 Old-Lore Misc. III. iv. 204:
On the inside the ends of the pins were wedged or orrowed to render them secure.
