NEEGER, v. To head a ball (Edb. 1957). Vbl.n. neegerin, a game consisting in heading a ball against a wall, as in quot., or between two goals three or four yards apart. Also called neegerie (Id.).Edb. 1956 Edb. Ev. News (20 Nov.) 6:
Would-be footballers have forgotten all about “neegerin.” Required for this were a small rubber ball and the wall of a tenement. Facing the wall, you tossed the ball in the air, headed it against the wall and kept it going with your hands rested on the wall.

[Said to be from Neeger, n., because of his supposedly hard head.]
