MENIMENT, n. Also menement; mendiment. Amendment, reformation of conduct.Sc. c.1805 Child Ballads (1956) III. 260:
“That was a sin, an a very great sin, But pardond it may be”; “Wi mendiment”, said King Henry, But a heavy heart had he.
Ib. V. 242:
“We menement”, said Earl Marchell, Bat a heavë, heavë heart had he.
Abd.7 1925:
Ye widna see muckle sign o' meniment there.
