MANNER, v.2 Also mawner. To mimic, to mock. Hence mannerin, mimicry, mockery.Dmf. 1820 J. Johnstone Poems 96:
Where nae tell tale echo manners. That could mock him when sae wae.
Dmf. 1825 Jam.:
He's aye mawnerin' me.

[Appar. a nonce usage of Eng. manner, sc. to imitate the manner of, but the 1820 quot. given above has been plagiarised from T. Scott Poems (1793) 358, where mauners is the reading. See Maunder.]
