LINGET, n. Also linjet, linshit. The seed of flax, lint-seed (n.Sc. 1808 Jam.; Mry., Abd. 1925). Hence linget-oil (Kcd. 1887 Jam.), linget-seed (n.Sc. 1808 Jam.). [′lɪnʒət]Ags. 1794 W. Anderson Piper of Peebles 6:
