LERBLADE, n. Also lair-, -blading. The cormorant, Phalacrocorax carbo (Ork. 1929 Marw.). [′lærbled(ɪŋ )]

[The first syllable represents O.N. lær, thigh, the second prob. a variant of Blett, q.v. (with -ing from the suff. art.), from the white patches at the top of the bird's legs. Cf. Lorin.]
