LAIRG, v., n. Also llarg (Gregor). [le:rg, Bnff. †ljɑ:rg]

I. v. To make muddy, smear, bemire (Rxb. 1923 Watson W.-B.); of cereals or grass: to lodge in wet masses (Bnff. 1866 Gregor D. Bnff. 107).

II. n. A wet mass “in the midst of what is dry” (Ib.). Also in form lairgis, a mess (Ork. 1960).Bnff. 1866 Gregor D. Bnff. 107:
The corn 'ill lead, though there's some weet llargs in an antren sheaf.
