KEECHAN, n. Also keechin (Jam.), kechan. Variants of Caochan, q.v. [′kiçən, ′kɛç-]

1. A rivulet (Bnff. 1866 Gregor D. Bnff. 93).

2. In distilling: the liquor after it has been drawn from the draff or grains, and fermented, before going through the still (Fif. 1825 Jam.; Per. 1902 E.D.D.). Used in quot. as if = yeast. Cf. Skeechan.Rnf. a.1813 A. Wilson Poems (1844) 196:
Some oxtering pocks o' silken ware, Some lapfus hov't like kechan.
