GABBER REEL, n. comb. “Evidently a sprightly air” (Gl. to Child Ballads (1905)).Sh. 1880 King Orfeo in Child Ballads No. 19 viii.:
An dan he played da göd gabber reel, Dat meicht ha made a sick hert hale.

[The form is corrupt, phs. for Gramarie. Jak. gives gamari for Unst = boisterous merriment, which may be the same word.]
