FUTITH, n. Also futoth, footith, futtith (Jam.2).

1. A riot.Rxb. 1825 Jam.2:
There was a great futoth at the fair.

2. A predicament, a dilemma (Ib.); a bustle, flutter (Dmf. Ib.).Rxb. 1825 Jam.2:
He was in an unco futith.
Dmf. 1825 Jam.2:
In a sad futith, in a great bustle.

[Orig. doubtful. Phs. Fou + -tith (on analogy with Puirtith), fullness, in the sense of complete preoccupation, tumult.]
