FOSSING BAND, n. comb. ? A cross piece of wood driven in between wall posts to give added strength and firmness.Abd. 1793 in Sc. N. & Q. (Oct. 1926) 193:
Posts and fossing bands for partition walls, with a door and hinges and sneck.
