I. v. I.Sc. variant of Eng. flitter, to flutter, flit about (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928); Sh., Ork. 1951).Sh. 1924 T. Manson Peat Comm. III. 184:
You're got ta stick ta da wan, my jewel, an no geng fleeterin aboot laek a honey bee.
Ork. 1950:
She came to the church with a scarf fleeterin' aboot her neck.

II. n. Any fluttering or trailing object.Ork. 1950:
Just a thin fleeter o' a frock.
