FITTLE, v. Also fittl (Edm.), fitl, fitel (Jak.), feetle. To take short steps in walking (Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl., 1908 Jak. (1928); Cai.1 1920, feetle, Cai. 1951). Ppl.adj. fittlan, footling, bungling (Ork. 1929 Marw.). Deriv. adj. fittlie, shaky on the feet, tottery (Ork.5 1951).
