†FIORIN, n. Also fjorin, fjora (Jak.). The ebb-shore, the foreshore (Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl., 1908 Jak. (1928)); “now only used by flshermen as a tabu-word at sea in the sense of limpets, because these are found on the beach” (Jak.).
