FIANSKIEN, int. Also fjanskin (Jak.). Used as an oath = the deuce, confound it! (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928)) or as an expression of goodwill (Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl., 1908 Jak. (1928)). [′fjɑnskin]Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928):
Fjanskin upo yon ting! may fortune attend that child.

[The word appears to be a confusion in form and meaning of Fiandin with Icel. fjarski, an immense amount. The form fjarskin is also found in Sh. (Jak.).]
