EVERT, v. To overthrow (a person) in an argument, to refute. Obs. or arch. in this sense in Eng. since 1726.Sc. 1714 T. Halyburton Natural Religion 61:
Which quite everts the whole Storie about the Sufficiency of the natural Discoveries of a Deity.
Sc. 1849 Blackwood's Mag. (Nov.) 652:
I am overthrown — everted — subverted — the contradiction is flagrant.
Sc. 1872 J. Walker Theolog. Scot. 99:
