Ye sud aye say a eerisen or ye pit the cog tae your heid on the Sabbath.
Ork. 1956 C. M. Costie Benjie's Bodle 64:
Wae twa verses o' the Auld Hunder, sung gey slow like a kindo eerison, the bairn wis asleep.

[The initial vowel sound would normally be [ø] in Ork.: [i] is the ne.Sc. development (see P.L.D. §§ 35, 128, 164.5). Cf. O.Sc. urieson, a.1578.]
