DUMBET, -it, Dombet, adj.

1. Of animals, esp. sheep: somewhat dark in colour, dust-like, grayish (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928), dumbet, dombet; Sh.10 1950).

2. In gen., e.g. of clothing which has lost its original freshness: dull, shabby (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928); 1914 Angus Gl.). Also used as a noun (Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl., dumbit).
